Three Branches of Government

The Electoral College

The process by which the President is elected is called the Electoral College. In this process, the voters dont vote for a specific presidential candidate, but rather for a person called an Elector. This person is specific to a political party, and when this person is chosen, he or she may vote for the candidate of their choice. There are 538 total electors, and a candidate must win a total of 270 votes to win the Presidency.
